About the work
Water is a work which, unusually for me, already existed in my mind’s eye before I put pen to paper.
It is a work which explores a limited colour palette - 5 shades of blue - in an expressive way. I wanted this thing to radiate out from a rich, dark centre, much like how a ripple radiates out over the surface of water. I wanted to feel the motion of being caught in a gentle vortex. I wanted, finally, a sense of depth, of something pulling me in.
